All animals over 7 years of age have an annual cardiac check. Early diagnosis and appropriate therapy of cardiac conditions can help the pet to live a longer and healthier life. Like humans, dogs and cats can suffer from a variety of problems related to their heart and lungs. Veterinary Cardiology treats diseases of the canine and feline cardiovascular system, which includes the pet's heart and blood vessels. This includes problems such as canine and feline congestive heart failure, hypertension, dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and valvular disorders.
